The Declaration on Vojvodina in Serbia was adopted by popular acclamation at a gathering in Sremska Mitrovica, where Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić marked Serbia’s Statehood Day.

Vučić framed the declaration as a response to alleged separatist tendencies in Vojvodina, emphasizing that “Vojvodina is not just a part of Serbia—Vojvodina is Serbia.” The declaration asserts that recent movements advocating for a “Vojvodinian nation,” language, and church threaten Serbia’s territorial integrity.

Despite the declaration’s focus on Vojvodina, Vučić dedicated much of his speech to denouncing what he described as a failed attempt at a “colored revolution” aimed at destabilizing Serbia.

“Their colored revolution has failed. Let them report it to USAID, NED, and everywhere else. Serbia has won, and Serbia will never be defeated,” Vučić proclaimed.

He accused foreign actors of trying to weaken Serbia economically and politically, particularly regarding Kosovo and Vojvodina, and vowed to politically counterstrike against those he believes orchestrated the protests and unrest.

The gathering, attended by thousands of government supporters and Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) members, also featured Milorad Dodik, leader of Republika Srpska, who echoed Vučić’s rhetoric by labeling USAID as a “criminal organization”.

Vučić announced that a new political movement would be launched on June 28 (Vidovdan), and that the new Serbian government would include at least 50% fresh faces, dismissing the possibility of a transitional government.

Meanwhile, he called on student protesters to declare victory and return to their studies, warning that continued unrest could harm the country’s stability.

The declaration and Vučić’s speech underline the Serbian government’s firm stance on maintaining territorial unity while portraying internal dissent as foreign-orchestrated interference.
