The fight against high-level corruption, organized crime and the confiscation of illicit assets were the focus of a meeting between Kosovo’s State Chief Prosecutor, Zejnulla Gashi, and Dren Paca, Acting Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office, following Paca’s assumption of office.

According to a statement from the Office of the State Chief Prosecutor, the meeting was held on October 5, with Gashi congratulating Paca and wishing him success in his new position, Gazeta Sinjali reports.

During the meeting, Gashi and Paca agreed to intensify joint institutional efforts to wage an uncompromising fight against high-level corruption, organized crime, terrorism, war crimes and complex forms of criminal activity.

The discussions also focused on strengthening international legal cooperation with Kosovo’s strategic partners, with the aim of combating transnational crimes that threaten security and the rule of law.

In addition to criminal prosecution, the statement said that financial investigations, tracing, seizure and confiscation of illicit assets obtained through criminal offenses falling under the exclusive jurisdiction of the Special Prosecution Office will be given priority.

In this regard, the need for the effective implementation of the Law on Extended Powers for the Confiscation of Assets was also emphasized.
