Following the passing of Pope Francis, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed heartfelt condolences and praised the Pope’s legacy as a spiritual leader and a great friend of Albania.

Farewell, Holy Father, an unforgettable and great friend of Albania,” Rama wrote in a Facebook post on Monday, paying his respects to the beloved Pontiff.

Pope Francis died at the age of 88 in his residence at Casa Santa Marta in the Vatican. Known globally for his compassion and humility, Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio became the first Latin American Pope in March 2013, following the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI.

Throughout his papacy, Pope Francis held a special bond with the Albanian people, notably visiting the country in 2014 and praising it as a symbol of religious harmony.

His death has sparked a global outpouring of grief and gratitude, especially among those in countries where his influence was deeply felt.
