Enver Dugolli, member of the Vetëvendosje Movement, announced that he was questioned today by the Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo as a defendant in a case involving accusations of inciting hatred.
The lawsuit was filed by Shpend Istogu, a member of the Kosovo Police and the son of Ajet Istogu, a former UDB officer. Dugolli stated that during the 1980s, he was a victim of physical, psychological, and emotional abuse inflicted by Ajet Istogu, abuse which, he says, left long-lasting consequences on his health.
“The lawsuit was filed by a Kosovo Police officer, Shpend Istogu, the son of the notorious UDB officer Ajet Istogu, known for his brutal torture of young people, intellectuals, and Albanian workers during the 1980s,” Dugolli wrote.
He added that instead of defending crimes committed by their relatives, families should “show dignity, even in the form of silence.”
Dugolli emphasized he stands by his statements:
“I have nothing to retract. On the contrary, I have made public denunciations and will continue to do so. I expected to be questioned as a victim and witness of the grave crimes committed against political prisoners, not for these kinds of allegations.”
In the past, Dugolli has publicly named several Albanians who, according to him, collaborated with the UDB and carried out acts of torture. Among those he has mentioned are: Ajet Istogu, Isa Bunjaku, Lutfi Ajazi, Hamëz Hajra, and Tahir Shala.
