Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti in New York on Monday for talks on a range of issues. The closed-door meeting was held at the Turkevi Center on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Anadolu Agency reported.
According to Turkey’s Directorate of Communications, the meeting focused on bilateral relations between Turkey and Kosovo, as well as regional and global developments.
Erdogan emphasized that Turkey would continue taking steps to increase bilateral trade to a level that reflects the potential of both countries.
He also said that Ankara would work to further advance cooperation with Kosovo in the fields of security and defense industry.
Erdogan told Kurti that Turkey would continue supporting Kosovo in securing its “deserved place” in the international community. Ankara also supports dialogue among the countries of the Balkans, he said.
During the meeting, the Turkish president invited Kurti to attend the COP31 Leaders’ Summit, which Turkey is expected to host in Antalya in November.
