The European Union has allocated €3.9 billion to fund the purchase of advanced drone technologies for Ukraine, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced today.
The funding is designed to drastically boost Kyiv’s defense capabilities on the frontlines against ongoing Russian military operations.
“€3.9 billion have been allocated for the procurement of advanced drone technologies to strengthen Ukraine’s defense,” von der Leyen stated in a post on the social media platform X.
The European Commission President highly praised the technological resourcefulness demonstrated by Ukrainian forces since the outbreak of the full-scale conflict, noting that “Ukrainian ingenuity is at the heart of its ability to resist” the large-scale Russian invasion that began on February 24, 2022.
