KFOR Commander Major General Enrico Barduani met today with the Head of the EU Office in Kosovo, Aivo Orav, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) governing KFOR support in relocation or evacuation during critical situations, the mission announced.
The MoU formalizes procedures that strengthen mutual trust, clarify roles, and enhance coordination between the EU Office and KFOR. This agreement enables both missions to respond efficiently and cohesively within their respective mandates.
“The Memorandum demonstrates the commitment of both military and civilian actors to proactively work together, enhancing readiness, stability, and security in challenging operational environments,” the announcement states.
KFOR continues to implement its mandate under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), ensuring a safe environment for all communities in Kosovo and guaranteeing freedom of movement, impartially and at all times. The mission also works in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) in their respective security roles.
This agreement reflects a strengthened partnership between NATO-led forces and EU civilian authorities, ensuring rapid, organized, and coordinated responses during emergencies in Kosovo.
