On December 17, the EU-Western Balkans Summit will be held in Brussels, where working meetings will focus on political and economic cooperation between the European Union and the Western Balkans. Discussions will also cover the implementation of the Growth Plan and the gradual integration of the two regions. The Republic of Kosovo will be represented by the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani. This was confirmed by the European Union.

The meetings will begin at 17:30, followed by a press conference at 19:30. At 20:30, a working dinner for the leaders is scheduled to take place. According to the confirmation, the invited leaders will discuss the geopolitical context and challenges affecting both the EU and the Western Balkans.

“The meeting will start at 17:30 with a working session focused on EU-Western Balkans political and economic cooperation, the implementation of the Growth Plan, and the gradual integration of both regions. After the press conference at 19:30, a working dinner will follow at 20:30, where the leaders will discuss the geopolitical context and the challenges facing both regions,” said an EU official.

The Republic of Kosovo will be represented by President Vjosa Osmani, at the invitation of the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa.

“President Costa has invited leaders from the EU and the Western Balkans. On Kosovo’s behalf, President Osmani will attend the summit,” the EU official said.

After the summit, on December 18, the European Council meeting will take place in Brussels. Officials in Brussels have clarified that the decision to remove the repressive measures against Kosovo will be made at the Council level, not during the European Council meeting.

This EU official also mentioned that discussions within the Member States regarding the issue of the measures are ongoing and that this matter will not be on the agenda of the upcoming European Council meeting.

“The decision to lift the temporary measures against Kosovo is made at the Council level, not at the European Council meeting. Discussions among Member States on this issue are ongoing, and this point will not be on the EUCO agenda next week,” the EU official concluded.
