The exhibition Ismail Kadare’s Manuscripts opened today at the National Library of Kosovo. It is a joint effort by the Kosovo State Archives Agency, the General Directorate of Archives of Albania, and the Institute of Spiritual and Cultural Heritage of Albanians in Skopje.
At the opening, it was stated that this exhibition offers a unique perspective on Kadare’s work.
“The Albanian Archives, with this exhibition, begin fulfilling an indispensable duty for many future public cultural, scientific, and academic institutions across the nation. It is a commitment to document, study, and honor the vision and creative genius of Ismail Kadare,” said Bislim Bislimi, Executive Director of the Kosovo State Archives Agency.
Ardit Bido, Director-General of the Albanian Archives, called this exhibition one of the greatest gifts for the 75th anniversary of the General Directorate of Archives.
“This generosity, initially from Gresa Kadare and Helena Kadare, was the best gift for the 75th anniversary of the Archives Directorate. More than that, it represents an unspoken testament from Kadare himself,” said Bido.
Blerina Rogova-Gaxha, Director of the National Library of Kosovo, remarked that as a scholar of Kadare’s work, the exhibition offers a fresh perspective on the writer. “It reveals a dimension of writing that is nearly disappearing in today’s world,” she added.
The exhibition is part of the cultural and scientific event Alphabet Days.
