Kosovo Police have provided an update on the situation in the north of the country following recent heavy rainfall and flooding.
A bridge in the village of Beluçe, Leposaviq, has been temporarily closed after inspections revealed structural damage caused by the floods, posing a safety risk.
In addition, four families in North Mitrovica have been evacuated after their homes were flooded, the police reported.
“Flooding has been observed in Zvečan and North Mitrovica. On 8 January 2026, Police received information that a bridge in Beluçe, Leposaviq, was damaged by floods. One of the bridge’s supports was compromised. Local municipal officials and representatives from the Ministry of Infrastructure inspected the site and determined that the bridge posed a safety risk and must remain closed until further notice,” the statement read.
The police confirmed that the situation is currently manageable, with continuous monitoring in place. Citizens experiencing emergencies or difficulties are advised to contact the Kosovo Police at 192.
“Kosovo Police remain committed to providing services, protecting lives and property, especially during emergencies caused by natural hazards,” the report added.
