The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France has issued a statement regarding the actions of the Government of Kosovo and the closure of several parallel Serbian institutions in various municipalities of Kosovo.

The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed regret over the unilateral closure, stating that such a decision negatively impacts the daily lives of the Serbian population in Kosovo.

Furthermore, these actions by the Kosovo government are said to jeopardize the efforts to normalize relations with Serbia within the framework of the Dialogue.

“France regrets the unilateral decision made by the Kosovo government on January 15 to close a large number of Serbian administrative structures in Kosovo, a decision which will negatively affect the daily lives of the Serbian population in Kosovo. This risks the efforts to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia within the EU-facilitated dialogue,” the statement reads.

Finally, it is noted that this unilateral action by Kosovo jeopardizes the prospects of lifting EU sanctions against Kosovo.

“This unilateral action jeopardizes the prospects of lifting the restrictive measures against Kosovo. France calls for the respect of commitments made by the parties to advance the implementation of the Brussels-Ohër agreement,” the statement concludes.
