German soldiers from the Regional Command–East, serving under the NATO-led KFOR mission, recently conducted specialized training on Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) to enhance their ability to detect, monitor, and track unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs or drones).

According to KFOR, the exercises focused on the use of advanced technology systems, improving technical capabilities in counter-drone operations, while strengthening team coordination, adaptability, and multinational cooperation in operational environments.

“The activity centered on leveraging advanced technological systems, enhancing technical skills in counter-UAS capacities, and reinforcing coordination, teamwork, and adaptability in a multinational environment,” KFOR stated.

Through ongoing training, KFOR emphasized that it aims to maintain overall readiness and operational effectiveness, in line with its mandate to ensure a safe and stable environment for all residents of Kosovo. The mission reiterated its commitment to operating under UN Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), supporting freedom of movement and security impartially at all times.

KFOR also highlighted its close coordination with the Kosovo Police and the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), working together to uphold security responsibilities in their respective roles.

This initiative comes amid heightened attention to drone-related incidents worldwide and reflects NATO forces’ broader efforts to mitigate emerging aerial threats in sensitive operational theaters.
