The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, says that the government will consider the EU draft for the Association only if Serbia fully implements the basic Brussels agreement and the Ohrid annex.
According to her, Kosovo cannot send Miroslav Lajcak’s draft for the Association to the Constitutional Court as a separate part of the agreement reached last year, but only as part of the package that also includes the detailed implementation plan.
Chief diplomat Gërvalla in an interview for KosovaPress says that the association draft in its current form, separated from the Brussels package, cannot be processed, despite international pressure and the conditions that may be for membership in international organizations.
As an appropriate solution, she considers the possibility for the EU to send this draft to the Venice Commission for evaluation. However, she says that they are ready to sit down with the representatives of the Serbian community in Kosovo, so that the government can draw up a draft statute of the association of municipalities with a Serbian majority in Kosovo.
