The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla, paid tribute at the grave of the hero, Ismet Rrahmani, on the 26th anniversary of his death.
In a Facebook post, she stated that teacher Ismet Rrahmani was an inspiration for those who loved freedom more than life itself.
“September 1998 found him away from the students and the school he led before it was closed, and he took up the weapon of freedom. During the war, in those dark and difficult days, hundreds of citizens came to bid farewell to the teacher who became a commander, the activist who became a symbol of resistance, the hero, Ismet Rrahmani.”
“On the 26th anniversary of his death, at the hero’s tower, in the village of Aqarevë in Skenderaj, we paid tribute by remembering and highly valuing his life and work, sacrifice, and self-sacrifice for freedom. Ismet Rrahmani was not just a man of knowledge but an inspiration for those who loved freedom more than life itself. His sacrifice is the foundation upon which our freedom is built, and his self-sacrifice is eternally etched in our collective memory,” said Gërvalla.
