Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has suspended Italy’s defense agreement with Israel, which includes the exchange of military equipment and technological research, according to Italian media reports.

“The government, in light of the current situation we are facing, has decided to suspend the automatic renewal of the defense agreement with Israel,” Meloni said, according to La Repubblica.

Previously, in 2024, Meloni had suspended all arms sales to Israel due to the bombing of the Gaza Strip following the October 7 attacks.
