Vlora Çitaku, the vice-chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, responded strongly after the term “Kosovo and Metohija” was used by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Court.
She stated that this was not a mistake or an accident but a politically motivated act that severely insults the citizens of Kosovo.
“The use of the term ‘Kosovo and Metohija’ by the Prosecutor’s Office of the Special Court is not a slip of the tongue, nor an accidental mistake. It is a deliberate, politically motivated act that not only constitutes a severe insult to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo but also challenges our institutions and our state. This is an affront. A test of our dignity as a society, as institutions, and as a state. All institutions in Kosovo must respond urgently and seriously. Silence today is approval tomorrow. If we remain silent now, history will not forgive us,” Çitaku wrote.
One of the two employees of the Hague-based Prosecutor’s Office, who was involved in interviewing Sefer Goxhuli, referred to the Republic of Kosovo using the term “Kosovo i Metohija” (Kosovo and Metohija).
Official Belgrade and the Milošević regime have been using this term for years in a pejorative sense, intending to undermine the territorial integrity of the Republic of Kosovo, writes Insajderi.
