Acting Justice Minister Albulena Haxhiu has voiced frustration over the continued deadlock in Kosovo’s Assembly, asserting that her party is open to negotiated solutions but refuses to engage in what she called “the opposition’s political games.”
Following the Assembly’s second failure to vote on the Report for Verification of Mandates, Haxhiu stressed the need for inclusive political dialogue and condemned unilateral decision-making in the parliamentary process.
“There can be no one-sided decisions from the presiding member of the constitutive session,” said Haxhiu. “All parties must be consulted to reach a consensus for the way forward.”
She added that the current impasse—caused by the opposition’s refusal to support the mandate verification process—has no clear legal outcome outlined in Kosovo’s legislation.
“We are open to any solution that leads to the constitution of the Assembly, but we cannot accept absurd, legally unfounded demands,” Haxhiu stated.
She also criticized the opposition’s calls for resignation, calling them outdated and politically motivated tactics that have already been addressed.
Despite the stalemate, Haxhiu affirmed that the parliamentary majority remains committed to finding an institutional and democratic path to ending the crisis and ensuring the Assembly can function.
