A sense of hope for a Gaza ceasefire is growing as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington, following more than 21 months of conflict in Gaza.

Trump Confident of Deal This Week

During a press conference, President Trump emphasized his dedication to ending the conflict. “Very determined to help reach an agreement that will bring an end to this conflict,” the American president stated, adding confidently, “We will have a deal this week.” Netanyahu, for his part, expressed optimism about the meeting’s outcome. “We are working to reach the agreement that has been discussed, according to the terms we have agreed upon,” he said, hoping that discussions with Trump will accelerate an end to the bloodshed.

Indirect Talks Resume Amidst Delicacy

Meanwhile, indirect talks between Israel and Hamas have resumed in Qatar, mediated by the U.S., focusing on a 60-day ceasefire and a hostage release agreement. Diplomatic sources caution that the process is in a very delicate phase, with uncertainty about whether the parties can agree on key terms.

Public Pressure Mounts in Israel

The situation on the ground has been further intensified by massive protests in Israel, where thousands of citizens have demanded the return of approximately 50 hostages from Gaza, at least 20 of whom are believed to still be alive. Protesters have urged the government to sign an immediate agreement to bring their relatives home.
