Human Remains Found in Strellc Mountains, Believed to Belong to Missing War Victims

The Government Commission on Missing Persons has announced that human remains have been discovered and exhumed at the location of Lugjet e Nekës in the Strellc Mountains, believed to belong to victims of the Kosovo war who are still listed as missing.

According to the Commission, the operation was carried out after information provided by citizens was addressed in cooperation with the Police Sector for Missing Persons, the Directorate for War Crimes Investigations, and the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML), with the support of EULEX experts.

“By order of the competent prosecutor, the remains were exhumed and sent to the IML for further examination and identification through DNA analysis,” the statement said.

The Government Commission on Missing Persons reaffirmed its commitment to clarifying the fate of every missing person, stressing the importance of close cooperation with both local and international institutions. Authorities once again urged citizens to share any possible information that could help in this sensitive process.
