Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Hysen Durmishi, announced that the bypass at the Ibër-Lepenc water canal will be completed within the week. This measure is critical to ensure the uninterrupted flow of water, which is vital for both the citizens’ water supply and KEK (Kosovo Energy Corporation).
Durmishi made the statement after his visit to the village of Varagë in Zubin Potok, where a terrorist explosion damaged the canal on November 29. He confirmed that emergency repairs had been successfully completed, and pipes were installed to ensure that the water flow continues without disruption.
“We are committed to finishing the bypass in about a week, while the full repair may take longer depending on the extent of the damage,” Durmishi stated. He emphasized that there will be no water supply interruptions as the bypass will ensure continuous water flow. The next step will involve assessing the damage to the canal and determining whether the entire structure needs to be replaced or repaired.
The explosion, which occurred in the northern region of Kosovo, severely impacted critical infrastructure. Kosovar authorities have attributed the attack to criminal groups supported by Serbia.
