At least six people have died and 25 were swept away after a bridge over the Indrayani River in the western Indian city of Pune collapsed on Sunday, Reuters reports, citing Indian media.

Preliminary reports indicate that 10 to 15 people are feared missing under the bridge, while at least five individuals have been rescued, police confirmed, according to Nova.rs.

Rescue teams from India’s National Disaster Response Force are on the ground, and rescue operations are ongoing.

This is the latest in a series of severe accidents in India in recent days. Previously, at least 270 people lost their lives in a plane crash in Gujarat, and earlier today, a helicopter with seven passengers crashed, killing all on board.
