The Special Prosecution has filed an indictment against six individuals with the initials S.S., I.V., M.V., M.R., N.M., and A.L., for the criminal offenses of “Participation in a Crowd Committing the Criminal Offense of Hooliganism” and “Unauthorized Ownership, Control, or Possession of Weapons.”

According to the Prosecution’s statement, the defendants are suspected of intentionally taking part on October 13, 2021, in an organized crowd in North Mitrovica, which engaged in violent acts against members of the Kosovo Police and Customs.

“There is well-founded suspicion that the defendants attacked Kosovo Police and Customs officers with stones, wooden and metal rods, as well as hand grenades, thereby causing general danger,” the Special Prosecution said.

The defendants are also accused of ambushing police officers at the scene by setting up barricades, while police armored vehicles were struck with bullets from firearms and hand grenades. As a result of the violence, several police officers sustained bodily injuries.

The indictment notes that B.A., E.V., and S.A., members of the Kosovo Police, were among those injured.

Furthermore, in the “Berxhane” neighborhood of North Mitrovica on the same day, three of the accused (I.V., M.V., and M.R.) allegedly used firearms and gas canisters against police and customs officials.

The crowd then moved towards a pharmacy, where they injured more police officers and caused material damage.

“Police officers M.M., Xh.M., A.R., B.Sh., and A.M. were injured, and damages exceeding €20,000 were caused,” the indictment concludes.
