However, KFOR stated that the Kosovo Police are not obligated to inform them of all their movements throughout the country.
While citing NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, KFOR made it clear that any movement or deployment of the Kosovo Security Force in the north of the country requires their approval.
“NATO’s stance is clear and consistent. The Kosovo Police do not need to notify the KFOR commander of all their movements throughout Kosovo. But as NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg made clear during his visit to Kosovo last November: ‘Stability in the region depends on all parties choosing diplomacy over violence and respecting existing commitments. Any deployment of the Kosovo Security Force in the north of Kosovo requires KFOR’s consent; and we expect timely consultations for any actions by the Kosovo Security Force or the Kosovo Police that may affect regional security,'” reads KFOR’s response to Dukagjini.
According to the official statement from the Police on the day of the operation, it is said that in addition to closing six illegal units of the “Postal Savings Bank,” various material evidence was confiscated, including approximately 74 million dinars, about 1.6 million euros, 19,500 francs, and around 13,800 US dollars.
The action by the Kosovo Police came a week after the Central Bank of Kosovo announced that the transitional period for its regulation, which prohibits the use of the Serbian dinar for making payments, had ended.
