Under the chants of “UÇK, UÇK,” Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans crossed the Morinë border on foot, carrying the Albanian national flag and the KLA flag in their hands.
According to organizers, around 60 buses were scheduled to head toward Tirana for the nationwide protest “Justice for the Liberators,” set to begin at 5:00 PM in Skanderbeg Square.
The protest’s slogan, “I am KLA,” highlights the participants’ solidarity with the former KLA leaders currently facing trial at the Special Court in The Hague.
Authorities have announced that the Nation’s Highway (Rruga e Kombit) will be toll-free for 24 hours to facilitate the movement of participants.
A similar protest was previously held in The Hague on September 14, one day before the testimony of former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State James Rubin, the first witness for the defense.
