Glauk Konjufca, Vice President of Vetëvendosje (VV), warned that the Constitutional Court could commit a “state betrayal” as it prepares a ruling by the end of the month regarding the election of the Speaker and Deputy Speakers of the Kosovo Assembly.
Speaking at a party meeting, Konjufca emphasized that the Constitutional Court “has no authority to interpret beyond the Constitution” and outlined two possible scenarios:
- The Court clears the way for the Assembly to continue functioning.
- The Court forces new elections.
He added a third, unacceptable scenario, which he described as a betrayal of the state: giving the Serb List and Belgrade veto power over the Republic of Kosovo, a situation he strongly rejected.
Konjufca stressed:
“The Republic of Kosovo cannot be held hostage by the Serb List. We have the Assembly, and we will form the government.”
He then proposed Albin Kurti as Prime Minister for the upcoming government, a nomination unanimously approved by the General Council.
Konjufca described 2025 as a historically risky year politically, marking “the most dangerous attempt to disregard electoral results.” He criticized delays caused by those insisting that the Assembly cannot function without a Deputy Speaker from the Serb List.
