The constitutive session of Kosovo’s new Assembly will resume on September 9, with the election of the Assembly Speaker and deputy speakers on the agenda.
The continuation was scheduled by Avni Dehari, who is presiding over the constitutive session that began on August 6.
In an invitation sent to members of the new legislature, deputies were informed that the session would resume at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, in the Assembly’s plenary chamber.
“The constitutive session of the Assembly, which began on 06.08.2026, will continue its proceedings on Wednesday, 09.09.2026, at 11:00, in the plenary session hall. All deputies of the Assembly are invited,” the notice states.
The agenda includes the election of the Speaker of the Assembly and the election of the deputy speakers.
The Assembly has remained unconstituted since its first session on August 6, when lawmakers took their oaths but failed to proceed with the election of a speaker amid political disagreements.
The latest development comes after Vetëvendosje and the Democratic League of Kosovo reached a political agreement to support law professor and former diplomat Bekim Sejdiu as a joint candidate for president, potentially easing the broader institutional deadlock.
The September 9 sitting will therefore be an important test of whether the agreement can translate into the formation of functioning state institutions.
