The Government of Kosovo, led by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, has confirmed its commitment to the 2013 NATO-Kosovo agreement, which stipulates that any deployment of the Kosovo Security Forces (KSF) in the northern region of Kosovo requires prior authorization from KFOR. In December 2024, Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, reiterated this commitment in writing to KFOR’s Commander, Enrico Barduani, assuring that the KSF would not be deployed to the north without KFOR’s consent. This written confirmation is part of ongoing dialogue and coordination between KFOR and Kosovo’s security officials to maintain stability and security in the region. KFOR welcomes this commitment as it continues to monitor and manage security situations in Kosovo.
