As of December 3, more than 25,000 registration requests have been received through the electronic platform for citizens living abroad to vote in the upcoming Kosovo elections. Among these, 23,618 have been approved, while 1,525 requests were rejected.

Kosovo’s Central Election Commission (KQZ) spokesperson, Valmir Elezi, stated that the voter registration period for the diaspora began on August 29 and will run until December 26, 2024. The platform (http://diaspora.kqz-ks.org) has been processing applications since then, with most rejections occurring due to applicants failing to submit a photo while holding their identification document.

Of those approved for registration, 6,228 have opted to vote physically at diplomatic missions, 3,575 have chosen to send their ballots by mail to the KQZ in Kosovo, and 13,815 have selected to mail their ballots to the KQZ office abroad.

Elezi emphasized that the voter registration process is not final, meaning those whose applications are rejected can reapply. KQZ notifies rejected applicants of the reasons for rejection and provides instructions on how to resubmit their application with the necessary documents.

KQZ encourages all Kosovo citizens abroad to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
