Following the failure of the 14th attempt to convene Kosovo’s Parliament, Albulena Haxhiu, the candidate for Speaker of the Assembly from Vetëvendosje (VV), addressed the media with concerns over what she called a deliberate obstruction by the opposition.

Haxhiu expressed deep concern that the ruling of the Constitutional Court is not being respected, calling it a worrisome development for the democratic process.

“I believe the position of the opposition is visible to all—there is a continuous tendency to block this process,” she stated.

Haxhiu accused the opposition of evading responsibility:

“The opposition is persisting with an unacceptable stance by not taking the responsibility that belongs to them. It is their duty to vote—for, against, or abstain. But they must participate. It is their obligation to help constitute the Assembly.”

She urged for an end to the political deadlock:

“We must move beyond this situation. If they disagree with the commission, they should vote against it. I consider this behavior unacceptable. Each of us must take responsibility.”

Haxhiu concluded by expressing hope that the former opposition parties would soon reflect and contribute constructively to the institutional process.
