The personnel of the Mitrovica North Regional Directorate of the Kosovo Police will now operate from a section of the Trepça building. This new facility was visited by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, and the Minister of Economy, Artane Rizvanolli.

As of this Saturday, police officers from the Mitrovica North Directorate have been allocated new office spaces.

Work has already begun on installing network infrastructure, security cameras, and other technical components within the facility.

Improved Police Infrastructure

This new space will house key operational units, including the chief of investigations, regional traffic, and other operational offices.

“This facility will host the regional traffic unit, operational offices, my office, administrative offices, and the chief of investigations or similar divisions. Some personnel will remain in the current building, but this move will significantly free up space in the Zveçan police station, where the regional traffic unit was previously located, as well as in the Mitrovica North station,” said Veton Elshani, Deputy Director of Police for the North.

Enhanced Services and Increased Police Presence

Elshani emphasized that the new space will allow for more professional service delivery.

“This expansion will enable us to provide higher-quality services to citizens because we now have more space and improved working conditions. The facility meets our current capacity needs, but we will assess whether additional personnel are required in the future. As of the day after tomorrow, we will welcome 117 new police officers, increasing our overall police force,” Elshani told Tëvë1.

The increase in personnel and infrastructure improvements are expected to enhance security and law enforcement efficiency in the northern region of Kosovo.
