Kosovo’s PM Albin Kurti stated, “Two and a half years of relentless, systematic, institutional, and political work. Dozens of state officials actively engaged every day.
The first step of public success was the gathering of ambassadors at the Council of Europe on April 24, 2023, the second step was yesterday at the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs, the third step will be the Parliamentary Assembly on April 18, 2024, and the last will be the membership next month, in May, at the meeting of the Council of Ministers of member countries.
I thank everyone who engaged and contributed to us becoming a member of the Council of Europe this spring, especially thanking Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Donika Gërvalla-Schwarz, Deputy Minister Kreshnik Ahmeti, the group of deputies led by the Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Saranda Bogujevci, and our ambassador in Strasbourg, Lulzim Hiseni.
A great achievement for our people and state, a new opportunity for the citizens of Kosovo without distinction. The core values of the Council of Europe, namely democracy, the rule of law, and human rights, naturally come and belong to our good and progressive governance.”
