Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Thursday that bilateral relations between Moscow and Washington are “currently heading toward decline.”

In an interview with Izvestia, Peskov stated that relations between the United States and Russia “have not changed.”

“The only thing that has emerged and this is very important is the political will for dialogue on both sides,” he emphasized.

He further expressed hope that it would be possible to “revive” relations between the two countries, but added that, for now, dialogue revolves solely around the war in Ukraine.

“We believe—and many of our American interlocutors share this view—that the potential of our relations is significant and that it is mutually beneficial,” Peskov noted.
