Vetëvendosje leader Albin Kurti said after his meeting with Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) leader Lumir Abdixhiku and the party’s presidential candidate, Vjosa Osmani, that the parties are seeking a political agreement to prevent the country from heading to new elections.
“We are interested in reaching an agreement and avoiding elections. Our shared objective is to prevent new elections. There is readiness, interest, and willingness to achieve this, but of course, that is a necessary condition, though not a sufficient one to say we have successfully reached an agreement. The agreement we seek is, naturally, a political one because we are political parties, and we see a political agreement as a functional complement to the will of the people, namely the election result,” Kurti said.
He added that the discussions focused on the current political developments, the timetable for the constitution of Kosovo’s institutions, and the latest developments in the country “in light of the election result.”
