Kosovo’s acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, today hosted two Members of the United Kingdom Parliament, Martin Vickers and Paul Foster.
Strengthening Economic and Defense Cooperation
During their meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, focusing on economic, trade, and defense cooperation. Kurti highlighted Kosovo’s participation in the international Defender Europe 2025 exercises, underscoring the country’s hospitality and commitment.
He emphasized the significant investments and growth in Kosovo’s defense capabilities, noting a 123% increase in troop numbers over the last four years, alongside armament investments. Kurti also stressed the strategic importance of cooperation in the military industry as a new and promising area for the Kosovo-UK partnership.
The Prime Minister spoke about strategic economic sectors, with a particular focus on railway infrastructure projects and the technology sector, identifying these as areas with high potential for investment and collaboration.
Regional Cooperation and NATO Aspirations
Another key topic was regional cooperation within the Berlin Process, with its next summit scheduled to be held in London. Kurti also reiterated the importance of Kosovo’s swift membership in NATO as a crucial step for long-term security and regional stability.
The British MPs praised Kosovo’s progress and reaffirmed their commitment, and that of the United Kingdom, to continue supporting Kosovo on its path toward Euro-Atlantic integration and democratic development. Kurti expressed gratitude for the UK’s continuous and cross-party support for Kosovo.
