Acting Prime Minister and leader of the Self-Determination Movement (Vetëvendosje), Albin Kurti, addressed supporters at a rally held after the party emerged as the most voted force in the early parliamentary elections, thanking sympathizers and voters for their support.
“Once the results of this magnificent and historic victory are certified, we will immediately constitute the Assembly, establish the government for a third mandate, and implement all our commitments over the next four years, one by one, as quickly as we know and are able,” Kurti promised before Vetëvendosje supporters.
Kurti said the results of 28 December demonstrated that the coalition’s victory this year is even greater than that of 2021.
“At this hour yesterday evening, it became clear that our victory this year is even bigger, surpassing that of 14 February 2021. This shows that our governance—just, good, comprehensive, and sincere—has been valued. This is a great expression of gratitude from the people toward us, but also a great responsibility for us toward the people,” he said.
“We who decide for ourselves will raise our country higher and higher—as an economy, in education, culture and sports, healthcare, defense, and security. Therefore, much work lies ahead of us,” Kurti continued.
He thanked all those who voted for Vetëvendosje, with special appreciation for the diaspora.
“Allow me to particularly thank our compatriots abroad, our migrants—brothers and sisters who came from Europe, America, and even the most distant parts of the world—to bring the New Year three days earlier this year,” he said.
