Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, will travel to Sarajevo on the evening of Thursday, December 5, confirmed Adil Kullenoviq, president of the non-governmental organization “Independent Intellectuals Association Krug 99,” to Radio Free Europe (RFE).

Kullenoviq stated that Kurti would participate in a conference organized by the association the following day, December 6, in Sarajevo, where he will deliver a speech.

“This session will focus on discussing regional relations,” Kullenoviq told RFE.

In October, Kurti had announced during a Berlin Process summit that Kosovo would allow citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to enter Kosovo using just an ID card, starting January 1, 2025.

The visa-free agreement between Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which would allow citizens of both countries to travel without a visa, has not yet been ratified in Bosnia’s Parliament. The agreement is currently blocked by representatives of the Republika Srpska entity, led by the Independent Social Democrats of Milorad Dodik.

Kosovo citizens wishing to travel to Bosnia need to obtain visas, which are “issued only in exceptional cases” and must be approved by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Visa applications can be submitted in Skopje, Podgorica, and Belgrade, and the visa fee is 31 euros.

For citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina wishing to travel to Kosovo, requirements include a letter of guarantee or hotel reservation, a work contract, and a certificate or confirmation that they have not been convicted. The visa costs 40 euros and is issued by Kosovo’s embassy in Zagreb.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo do not recognize each other, due to opposition from the Republika Srpska entity, led by pro-Russian President Milorad Dodik, who is under U.S. sanctions for undermining the Dayton Agreement. /RFE
