Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has commented on the demands and measures proposed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić regarding the reintegration of Serbs into Kosovo’s institutions, dismissing them as “non-peaceful” and part of an “aggressive campaign for new conflicts.”
Last week, Vučić called for the reintegration of Serbs from the north into Kosovo institutions, demanding new local elections in the north, the return of Serbs to the Kosovo Police and judiciary, and the withdrawal of special police units from the north.
Kurti stated that “his demands and measures stem from desperation and exhibit irrationality; they are not peaceful but, on the contrary, part of an aggressive campaign for new conflicts that clearly have no place in Kosovo.”
This is the first time Kurti has commented on Vučić’s calls.
Kurti added that his own earlier demands directed at Serbia are “peaceful and rational” compared to those of the Serbian leader.
“Firstly, you need to address the three conditions I’ve set… the surrender of Milan Radoičić to Kosovo authorities, the signing of the Agreement [on normalizing relations between the two countries], and the withdrawal of the letter from former Prime Minister [Serbia’s Ana Brnabić], who stated that she does not recognize Kosovo’s independence, its UN seat, nor respects Kosovo’s territorial integrity,” said Kurti.
Last week, the Special Prosecution of Kosovo indicted 45 people, including Milan Radoičić, for the terrorist attack in Banjskë.
