Kosovo’s LDK and AAK confirm participation in the April 8 meeting called by Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca to discuss the upcoming constitutive session, though key differences remain on support for parliamentary leadership.
Kosovo’s Democratic League (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) have confirmed they will attend the political consultation meeting called by Assembly Speaker Glauk Konjufca, scheduled for April 8. The meeting aims to prepare for the upcoming constitutive session of the Assembly.
Bekë Berisha, a Member of Parliament from AAK, emphasized that attending the meeting is a responsibility of all political parties.
“Of course, it is our obligation as political parties. The Alliance will definitely participate,” Berisha told the press.
He also stated that AAK would support Vetëvendosje’s nominee for Speaker of the Assembly.
“There are rules in place. Whoever the candidate may be, we will attend the session because we owe that to our citizens,” he added.
Regarding the vote on the potential Kurti 3 Government, Berisha clarified that AAK would be present but did not confirm support.
LDK to Participate but Will Not Back VV Candidate
LDK MP Ekrem Hyseni also confirmed his party’s attendance at the April 8 meeting, clarifying that the invitation is institutional, not partisan.
“Absolutely, yes. This is not a Vetëvendosje party invitation. It’s an institutional call by the Speaker of the Assembly, regulated by the Assembly’s rules of procedure,” Hyseni told RTV21.
He explained that the meeting will focus on setting the agenda, assigning parliamentary seats, and organizing procedural matters for the April 15 constitutive session.
However, Hyseni made clear that LDK will not support any Vetëvendosje candidate for Assembly Speaker — nor any other party’s — unless a prior political agreement is reached.
“We will attend the April 15 session, but we won’t support any candidate from Vetëvendosje or any other party without a pre-existing political agreement,” Hyseni stated.
