The Shkodër Police continued their anti-cannabis operation, code-named “Koordinata”, uncovering and destroying 12,957 cannabis sativa plants in the Kastrat administrative unit, specifically in the villages of Alijaj and Jeran.
In addition, authorities seized 1,000 cannabis seeds, 709 kilograms of processed cannabis, and 3,934 kilograms of plants in the drying process.
As a result of this criminal activity, 14 individuals were arrested, 10 others are wanted, and 2 individuals were prosecuted while at liberty.
“During intensive checks and investigative operations, the Shkodër Police, in cooperation with the Malësi e Madhe Police, arrested individuals ranging in age from 17 to 77 years old,” stated police authorities.
The suspects allegedly cultivated 12,597 cannabis plants near their homes in Alijaj and Jeran. The plants were destroyed by burning, and during home inspections, authorities also confiscated significant amounts of cannabis in various stages of processing.
Material evidence seized includes:
- 1,000 cannabis seeds
- 4,685 kilograms of processed cannabis
- Additional amounts in the drying phase
Authorities emphasized that the operation targeted both cultivation and possession, aiming to dismantle organized drug production in the region.
