Defense Minister Ejup Maqedonci says that this year, the Kosovo Security Force (KSF) is expected to achieve the validation of the second infantry regiment.

“The Ministry of Defense continues to support the development of the Kosovo Security Force, based on the comprehensive transition plan, which has been developed in cooperation with the United States of America and other allies. This year we aim to achieve the validation of the second infantry regiment,” he said.

“Last year, as part of the Defender-Europe 2023 exercise, the first infantry regiment was planned, and this year we plan to validate the second infantry regiment to be capable of performing its key task, which is the defense of the country’s territory and sovereignty,” Maqedonci added.

“In this regard, the Ministry of Defense and the Kosovo Security Force are making significant steps in preparation, always with our partners, especially the United States of America, which remains the main supporter of the development of the Kosovo Security Force’s capacities,” the minister said.

He further stated in the Special Edition of Klan Kosovo that other activities are ongoing, all linked to achieving the objectives outlined in the comprehensive transition plan.

“This means that by the end of 2025, we will have completed the second phase of the transition, and with this, we will have three infantry regiments ready to perform their tasks within their mission. In this regard, we have had continuous support from the Prime Minister and the Government, especially with budget increases,” the minister added.
