Kosovo’s Minister of Defense, Ejup Maqedonci, declared today that following the blockade of over 1,500 Kosovar citizens at the border with Serbia, there is information that Serbia will test kamikaze drones near the border today. This development comes after calls from Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić to the special forces units “Cobras.”
Maqedonci emphasized that Serbia’s hegemonic and aggressive approach towards Kosovo suggests that tensions will continue. He added that these actions come in the context of a military exercise that began on April 8th, where Serbia tested offensive weapons, despite presenting them as preparations for territorial defense.
“We are concerned that these Serbian actions, disguised as defensive maneuvers, actually involve testing offensive equipment that poses a direct threat to stability in the region,” said Maqedonci.
According to him, NATO’s response to increase the presence of KFOR troops in Kosovo and Bosnia is a result of an assessment of the risk by local authorities, also highlighting that continuous arms purchases by Belgrade are causing a tense situation.
