Valon Murtezaj, a member of the General Council of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), has strongly criticized the party’s leadership over the handling of a proposed new governing agenda, calling the current situation “the lowest point of democracy” within the LDK, Rks News reports.
In a Facebook post, Murtezaj objected to the announced presentation of a new agenda regarding the country’s government orientation, stating that it was being carried out without any consultation or approval from the party’s statutory bodies.
“The planned presentation for tomorrow of an agenda concerning a governing orientation, done without any consultation and without any approval from the statutory organs of the party, marks the lowest point of democracy within the political subject of the Democratic League of Kosovo,” he wrote.
Murtezaj stressed that such a political direction for the Republic of Kosovo must be built through broad consultations, adding that only the LDK’s General Council has the authority to determine such matters.
He also mocked the various labels recently used for the idea of a new government, listing several versions:
“National Transitional Government, Inclusive Transitional Government, Inclusive Unity Government, Government of Unity, National Unity Government.”
In his closing remarks, Murtezaj reaffirmed his stance against authoritarianism and oligarchy within the LDK:
“The LDK of Ibrahim Rugova, of the first democracy in this region, of the heroes of freedom, of the heroes of democracy, of the patriots for Kosovo, must not abandon democracy. A political party is not a construction company. A political party is a state-building organization. Autocracy and oligarchy have no place in LDK — and never will. Always for democracy.”
