The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo has filed an indictment against nine individuals accused of defrauding foreign nationals and illegally obtaining more than €2 million through a coordinated investment scam.

The defendants identified as N.S., E.S., D.B., A.J., G.S., M.D., K.S., B.Q., and V.M. are charged with the criminal offense of fraud, while N.S. faces an additional charge for unauthorized possession of weapons.

Fraud Targeted Victims in Germany and Switzerland

According to the indictment, the suspects acted in concert over an extended period, from an unspecified date until February 2024, deceiving citizens from several European countries, primarily Germany and Switzerland.

The total financial damage caused amounts to €2,067,271, which prosecutors say was unlawfully acquired through fraudulent activities.

Fake Investment Companies and Manipulated Platforms

The prosecution states that the defendants falsely presented themselves as representatives of investment companies, contacting victims and persuading them to invest through online platforms named “Option888” and “Krack.”

After gaining unauthorized access to the victims’ applications and accounts, the suspects allegedly manipulated data to falsely display increasing investment returns, creating the illusion of profitable growth.

Funds Distributed Among Defendants

Investigations have confirmed that the funds transferred by victims via the “Krack” platform were subsequently divided among all defendants, indicating a structured and coordinated criminal operation, the prosecution said.

The case underscores ongoing efforts by Kosovo’s judicial institutions to combat cross-border financial fraud and protect foreign citizens from cyber-enabled crimes.
