The Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Thursday that Friday will be a non-working day for all public administration employees, in honor of the 28 November national holiday.

In its official statement, the Ministry confirmed that public sector staff will be off duty, extending congratulations for the upcoming holiday.

A Day of Major Historical Significance

November 28 holds deep symbolic meaning for Albanians across the region. The holiday marks Albania’s Independence Day, commemorated with cultural events and traditional ceremonies throughout the country.

For Kosovo, 28 November is celebrated as a fourfold holiday, representing:

  • Flag Day, linked to the legacy of Gjergj Kastrioti – Skanderbeg
  • Albania’s Independence Day (1912)
  • The birthday of legendary commander Adem Jashari
  • The first public appearance of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) in 1997

These historic moments make November 28 one of the most significant dates in the Albanian national calendar, celebrated with both cultural pride and remembrance.
