President Vjosa Osmani presented the Presidential Medal of Merit to the rock band “Oda” in a ceremony held yesterday at the Presidency, recognizing their promotion of musical values as part of Kosovo’s golden generation of rock.

On behalf of the band, Dukagjin Lipa accepted the medal and thanked President Osmani for the honor, according to the Kosovo Presidency.

President Osmani emphasized that “Oda,” like other bands from the 1980s, were not only performers but also catalysts for social change.

“Oda’s music is an emblem of cultural identity and pride for Kosovo. Their musical creativity continues to be a testament to the transformative power of art across different times and periods, also serving as a tool of resistance,” stated President Osmani.

The Presidential Medal was awarded to “Oda” a year ago during a ceremony honoring other rock bands from that era, as well as institutions and individuals who have contributed over the years.

The ceremony took place just before the start of the Sunny Hill Festival. Unable to attend due to international commitments, President Osmani congratulated Mr. Lipa, Dua Lipa, and the Sunny Hill Foundation for their excellent work, wishing them continued success for this year’s festival.
