President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, met with Belen Sanz Luque, the Regional Director of UN Women for Europe and Central Asia, to discuss Kosovo’s ongoing efforts in promoting gender equality, peace, and security.
The meeting took place during the month marking the 25th anniversary of the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda. President Osmani highlighted Kosovo’s progress in advancing this critical global initiative and reaffirmed the commitment of Kosovar institutions to ensure inclusive security and lasting peace.
“This collaboration has supported the empowerment of women, girls, and persons with special needs, sustainable economic empowerment of women, and increased participation in political and public life,” said President Osmani.
She also praised the long-standing cooperation with UN Women, emphasizing the organization’s role in promoting gender equality and supporting survivors of sexual violence during the war, transitional justice processes, and other key areas vital for Kosovo’s democratic and inclusive development.
President Osmani reiterated that Kosovo remains fully committed to advancing the Women, Peace, and Security Agenda, underlining the importance of international partnerships to strengthen gender equality and societal resilience.
