President Vjosa Osmani delivered a speech during the solemn session of the Assembly of Kosovo marking the KLA Epopeya, highlighting that the course of the country’s history changed on March 5, 6, and 7 in Prekaz.
She emphasized that Adem Jashari and his family chose sacrifice over submission, freedom over fear, becoming a fortress of the nation.
“On March 5, 6, and 7, in the heart of Prekaz, history took a new direction. Here, resistance, sacrifice, heroism, and our future were forged. Adem Jashari, together with his family, chose sacrifice over submission, freedom over fear, honor over life. The Jashari family became a fortress, and their towers a permanent flag of our freedom. Fifty-eight souls became a light for a people. In those days, the firing of weapons was a call for freedom, a call that awakened Drenica, Kosovo, the entire nation, and the conscience of the world. The March Epopeya is not merely an emotional memory, it is a founding act of our Republic.
The KLA’s struggle, the struggle of the Jasharis, was not only the battle of one people; it was reflected and supported by our friends around the globe. May God bless the Jashari family, the most emblematic symbol of our state and nation.”
