Bedri Hamza, the lead candidate of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), held a press conference following the completion of the parliamentary elections.
Hamza firmly ruled out any possibility of forming a coalition with Albin Kurti’s Vetëvendosje Movement.
“Albin Kurti promised 500,000 votes but failed to secure them. Today, the majority of voters have shown they do not want the same government to continue. We will not enter any coalition with Vetëvendosje. They had no clear program during the campaign, avoided TV debates, and fueled division and hatred,” Hamza stated.
He emphasized that the election results have strengthened the opposition.
“We will take the necessary steps to ensure that the people get the government they voted for. We will work tirelessly to protect and improve Kosovo,” he added.
Regarding government formation, Hamza noted that the winning party has the first right to form institutions. However, he indicated that if Vetëvendosje fails, the opposition may attempt to form a government.
“The leading party has the mandate to form institutions. If they fail, the opposition has the right to try. As an opposition party, we are open to discussions and negotiations with other opposition parties,” Hamza concluded.
