An AJet passenger aircraft operating the Pristina–Istanbul route veered off the runway after landing at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport, authorities confirmed.

The aircraft — a Boeing 737-800 — landed on the airport’s new runway 06R/24L, but after touchdown it departed the taxi-axis and ended up on soft ground adjacent to the runway. As a result, the airport management issued a NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) announcing the temporary closure of runway 06R/24L until further notice.

The closure caused significant delays during peak traffic hours, and several flights were forced to be diverted or delayed. Emergency and technical teams were dispatched immediately to the scene to secure the aircraft and begin recovery efforts.

According to early reports, no injuries have been reported among passengers or crew.

Turkish civil-aviation regulators (DGCA) and the airport administration have launched a joint investigation into the cause of the incident.
