Prince Harry has chosen humor to address the complicated relationship between him and his brother, Prince William — a subject tied directly to their long-standing rift.
During an appearance in the UK, ahead of the WellChild Awards 2025 ceremony, Harry met 17-year-old award winner Declan Bitmead, who mentioned he had a younger brother.
“Take his brain out, right?” — joked the Duke of Sussex, hinting that siblings can be “challenging.” When he later learned the brothers attended the same school, Harry added: “Well, that sometimes makes it even harder.”
Harry has been patron of the WellChild charity since 2007, but his relationship with William has long been strained. In his 2023 memoir Spare, Harry revealed that William once asked him to pretend they didn’t know each other while both attended the elite Eton College. “That really hurt me,” Harry recalled, adding that he took it very personally.
Hopes of reconciliation between the brothers seem to have faded once again. Kensington Palace announced that William has a packed schedule of official engagements during Harry’s visit to London, effectively ruling out a meeting between them.
Harry traveled without his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Archie and Lilibet. In addition to attending the WellChild Awards, he is also set to visit the Community Recording Studio in Nottingham, where he is expected to announce a major donation to Children in Need, supporting efforts against youth violence.
